24: The Unaired 1994 Pilot

I saw this the other day, it's pretty funny.

That was funny. It really makes you realize, 1994 doesn't seem like very long ago, but consumer technology has come a looong way.

I've never watched 24 (ok, make fun of me now), but I can certainly appreciate the difference between the technology levels. Think about the latest Die Hard movie and then translate that one into 1994. Hysterical.

Yeah, the original Die Hard would have been more boring if he had a cell phone.

Yeah, and think about it in reverse. It used to be no problem to create situations where people were isolated. Now you have to make up some convoluted reason why someone didn't just pick up a cell phone, if you need them to be out of touch for the plot. I know I've seen several examples of this, but I can't think of a specific one right now.

Hilarious! I especially loved the modem noise and "WELCOME!"

I remember those days...

I can remember watching the X-Files and yelling, "Bullshit! Mulder would never have reception there!"

"What? His phone works in the middle of the desert? That's crap!"

"Wait, now he's climbing down into a buried boxcar in the desert and not dropping the call?"
