Michelle Malkin is completely insane. Yeah, I know that's not news to anyone, but ever for her, getting upset over a scarf in a coffee commercial is more loony than I would expect. The worst thing about Malkin isn't that she's crazy, there are plenty of crazy people out there who don't hurt anything. The worst thing is that for some reason she has a following that takes this batshit insanity seriously. Even worse is that companies like Dunkin Donuts would listen to these lunatics.
Someone needs to tell Malkin and all her lunatic followers that they're not going to be killed by terrorists. They're just not. I'm no statistician, but I'm sure there are a million things more likely to kill the average American than a muslim jihadist. And even if terrorism were the number one cause of death in America, Rachel Ray's fashion choices while trying to sell you coffee are not going to change a single thing.
And besides, I thought people like Malkin were opposed to political correctness. Or is it only ok to offend people that have a legitimate reason to be offended, while whiny bitches complaining about scarves should always be listened to?

Welcome to a new feature* here where I wade into the cesspool of stupidity that is anonymous comments on the internets to make fun of the stupidity of others for my own amusement. What prompted me to do this, you ask? Well, I was reading through the comments at the link and just decided that some of this is too stupid to go by unremarked, and there was no one within earshot at the time, so I decided to share it with you instead. I realize it's not nice to make fun of people, but I think when you put this kind of stupidity out there for everyone to see, you deserve to be mocked. The subject today is an article from FOX News about recent polling regarding the election. Including, for some reason, some nonsense about who Osama would be rooting for.

I’m sorry but I honestly have a problem with a muslim being charge of my security when it is muslims that want to kill all Americans. The terrorist don’t care if you are republican or democrat. Doesn’t anyone else see a strange coincidence here? Obama will be so one sided on the terrorism issue that the terrorist will have a field day getting over on this guy. Obama is not going to take them seriously, either because he does’t “get it” or maybe he just won’t care.
As for the war lasting 100 years, that isn’t written in stone anywhere. Anyone with half a brain knows you can’t tell the enemy when you are going to end the war, because it doesn’t make sense. I would explain it, but I’ll let some excersise their minds.

Well, it seems easy enough to guess at Usama’s choice for President of the United States. It is the candidate who looks, sounds, and smells most like a Socialist. That could be any of the current candidates, Democrat or Republican. However, in my opinion Hillary is that candidate and Usama wouldn’t go that way because of the obvious. Osama would definitely be the “MAN”, being the most qualified Socialist in the government today. Seriously, are the people of this country really crazy enough to put Hillary or Barack into the White House and put a name plate on the desk of the oval office that says “COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES”? Are there really that many Socialist, Communist, or Nationalist Socialist supporters in this country? It just can’t be so! Why did our soldiers fight and die in WWII, Korea and Vietnam? To put one of the enemy in the White House?

To SIUE student:
Your an ass clown, plain and simple. Usama would vote for Obama because he wants to put us on the defense. WE in the MILITARY are voting for McCain because we trust him with our lives plain and simple. If it looks, smells, and tastes like a turd. Then guess what surrendercrats its Obama.

I support Hillary and everyone I know would not vote for Obama. I hope your polls are better than they have been lately. I would not be relying on your polls. Fox news had a gentlemen on their show yesterday evening talking about how Racist Obama is, and hides it very well. Did anyone see that and if so do you know his name?
Hillary or McCain

Bloggers don’t you just love how the Obama sheep all repeat the little
clichés that he has emphasized in his speeches such as
“We don’t want the same old, same old politics.”
No, what they want is the newbie’s running their country.
Well, if Obama does win the presidency, he will need the equivalent
of what President George W Bush has, he will have his own Cheney
like person telling Obama what to do and say. Gee I wonder who that old geezer will be?

Barack Hussein Obama has a one trick horse;
I DID NOT VOTE FOR THE IRAQ WAR!
Of course, you did not vote for the Iraq war you were not in the senate now were you obliged
to vote for or against the vote.;which according to your past voting history you would have
voted present!
Stop beating a dead horse, you act as if you had insight or knew all of the circumstances that
President George W. Bush was talking about.
He showed the senators which included Ted Kennedy, highly confidential findings by United
States secret CIA’s and other agencies ie., British Intelligence to justify why they should check
into Iraq. And would you not believe your President, would you think he would be lying to you?
So, unless you were present in a highly critical stage in American history, you can not
pompously point out that I did not vote to go to war with Iraq.

HUSSEIN OBAMA ITS NOT JUST A MUSLIM-BORN BUT AN ARAB-AMERICAN TOO, ‘not
an AFRICAN-AMERICAN’
This is what it is:
His father Obama(Sr)was ETHNICLY ARAB, all his relatives are Arabs with only
1 relative African Negro. Obama’s Sr’s great grandparent.
True Obamas Sr. was born in WEST OF KENYA were the negro tribes were CHRISTIANS,
Obama Sr. GOT his ARAB name to disinguish himself from the CHRISTIAN african negro
tribes. Obama’s Sr. PARENTS WERE ARABIANS.
Barack and all his relatives have arabian names. Barack Hussein Obama is a 50%
caucasian(white mother), 43.75% ARAB and 6.25% AFRICAN from his ‘great great
grandfather’s
side.

al-Qaeda members, Iraqi insurgents, Hezbollah, Hamas, Ahmadinejad of Iran and Chavez of Venezuela.

What the fuck? What could people possibly object to about nanotechnology? I really can't find any good reason to object to it at all, but I certainly don't see any moral dilemma. Surely this must be a flawed poll somehow. I don't have a lot of faith in the intelligence of people as a whole, but I can't really believe that people are stupid enough to have a moral objection to nanotechnology. I'm going to instead assume that they just have no idea what nanotechnology is and just figured that if someone was asking them if they had a problem with it that there must be something to object to.

So, a while ago, I saw a post about this book over at Tart's blog, and made a note to myself to check it out sometime since I like reading post-apocalyptic type fiction. So I picked it up one day along with The Golden Compass, which I had to read after getting an email at work about how we should avoid the movie because it was going to turn our kids into little heathens or something. Anyway, I almost didn't get it when I saw it was an Oprah's Book Club book, but then I decided that was pretty closed minded. Anyway, I'm about a third of the way through it, and normally I wouldn't post anything until I'm done reading a book, but I might not even be able to finish this one. Not that it isn't good, because it is, but holy shit, it might be the most depressing thing I've ever read or even heard of. Maybe it wouldn't seem so bad if I didn't have a young son, but fuck this is really getting to me. And it's even worse because I can see what's coming. Well, I hope I can't, actually. Anyway, movies and books don't usually get to me too much, but if what I think might happen happens in this book, I'll probably cry like a little baby.
Oh, and I found nothing whatsoever that was controversial in any way in The Golden Compass.

John McCain is a fucking douchebag, who I can't stand for a number of reasons, but this is a ridiculous thing for people to be upset about. However, instead of talking about it, I'll just link to my post after Mitt Romney used the word, since we've been down this road before.

Well, I guess it's nice to see that being an unreasonable idiot isn't reserved for pharmacists. Also, I'd be interested to see how many people who thought it was perefectly ok for pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions because of their religous beliefs complain when someone refuses to scan their bacon at the grocery store. I think all these Muslim cashiers should be required to get their prescriptions filled at pharmacies staffed by lunatic Christians, and those Christian pharmacists should have to shop at grocery stores with crazy Muslim cashiers. Maybe then, as each complains that the other shouldn't take a job that they can't do completely, a light bulb will go on. Probably not, but it's possible.
Anyway, the most ridiculous thing about this story to me is, who the fuck doesn't like bacon? If your religion doesn't let you eat bacon, it's time to find a new religion.

I constantly hear people whining about product placement in movies and TV, but it's never bothered me. There was a perfect example of why on Heroes tonight. Nikki/Jessica gets a letter and goes to open it, and it's clearly in a FedEx envelope. Only, instead of saying FedEx, it says SendEx. How this is any better than just leaving it FedEx, which is both easier and more realistic, is beyond me.
Even the Nissan Versa in this show, which I've seen people complain about, and which is clearly superfluous to the plot doesn't bother me, because all the references to it fit nicely with (and actually helped develop) Hiro's character.

So, I thought yesterday that it was ridiculous that someone could be offended by that Snickers ad. Well, that's nothing compared to the morons upset by the suicide robot ad. Apparently, it might give young robots bad ideas or something.
GM has "no plans" to drop the robot spot, spokeswoman Ryndee Carney saysGood. At least someone still has some common sense.

As I turned on the TV when I got home tonight, I caught just a piece of the tease for the news mentioning Snickers and a controversial Superbowl ad. I figured this was the one they were talking about and was ready to laugh at the ridiculousness of homophobes for complaining that an ad showed two men kissing. Well, after looking it up, I was disappointed to see that it was groups that are normally on the same side I am who were complaining. As anyone who's read this blog will know, I stand firmly in support of gay marraige, gay rights, and just all around treating gay people like anyone else. Having said that, I can't see anything the least bit offensive about this ad. The ad says absoultely nothing about gay people. There are no gay people in it. The two guys are not gay, so there is no reason they shouldn't feel akward about accidentally kissing each other. It doesn't mean they hate gay people, it makes no statement about homosexuality at all.
I think we should make some kind of rule to ignore anything said by any special interest group for a week or so after the Superbowl, as it seems these groups just like to capitalize on the popularity of the event to draw attention to themselves. And while I support drawing attention to groups that support gay rights, I'd rather that attention not be for them acting like morons.
