It's NOT hard to beat a team three times in one season.

Anytime a team is playing a division rival that they swept during the season in the playoffs, as the Cowboys are this week, we always hear the tired argument that it's so hard to beat a team three times in one season as the hope for the team that's lost the first two. However, it's just not true. The team trying to sweep is 11-6, and 9-3 when they're at home. The worst part of this argument is that it's normally made by people on TV who have access to enough information to realize that it's not true.

They never let facts get in the way of a good story. Everyone in the national, regional and local media is tripping over themselves to pick the Giants.

Another interesting fact from the post you linked to - "before the season, the Cowboys beating the Giants three times would have been something of a longshot. But now that they’ve already done two-thirds of the work, it’s not."

Yeah, that's the point, now that they've won the first two, it's actually MORE likely that they'll win the last one, not less. They won the first two because they're a better team, which gives them a better shot at the third one.

But yeah, if people talked about how hard it is to beat a team three times before the season, then it would be understandable, but they don't. They just trot it out as way to give the underdog a chance, even though the favorite has already proven themselves superior.

Agreed. Stupid logic. Perhaps it would apply to beating a team three times in a row in a fucking weekend tournament, but over twenty weeks? Not really applicable.

My condolences to the Howard clan on the 'Boys. Especially Chris and Mich—making the extra effort to see you team lose sucks.

I don't like the Cowboys. At all. But I really don't like teams from New York or things that make New York sports fans happy. Even more.

Plus, I was really looking forward to the added spice of 'Boys v Pats in the SuperBowl on the Couch™.

I love this post.

Sure, you love this post now. So now the home team trying to complete the sweep is 9-4. Still good odds.

I love these comments even more than the post.
