Broadcasters piss me off - Part 5

Shy. Everything is shy. It's never short, they never just miss or don't even come close to a first down, it's always shy of the first down. Now, I can see that you might use shy if they come up inches away, just to have something different to say occasionally. But that is obviously not their intent, since they use it all the fucking time. Even if it's ten yards short of the first down. Most of the things in this series could be corrected if these guys would just try for a little variety in their expressions.

Someone needs to get them a thesaurus to keep in the booth.

It pisses me off when after the result of a questionable spot/penalty/rule is called, at least one of the broadcasters will claim to have predicted the outcome.

An egregious example occured during the UNC vs. Wisconsin game on Saturday. UNC converted a 3rd and 20 with long pass. Both announcers were overflowing with praise and compliments...until offensive pass interference was called. Without even stopping to breathe, one of the announcers said, "I KNEW there had to be some offensive interference, he was so wide open." No dude, you didn't know or you would have said something instead of acclaiming the play.

Do they think we are so stupid that we won't remember that they in fact had not predicted the call?

Contradicting themselves is part 6. In the Jaguars/Colts game yesterday, this guy went on and on about how they needed to get Matt Jones involved and they just couldn't expect to run Fred Taylor all day, and he was the only one doing anything so they needed more people involved in the offense. Not ten minutes later after a few incompletions, the same guy was wondering why they had abandonded Fred Taylor when he was running so well. Well, asshole, it might have been because they were listening to you.
