ABC News: Warner Bros. Backs Blu-Ray DVD Format
I don't really care what high definition DVD format is backed by who, or which one wins out in the end, it will all sort itself out eventually. However, if it's going to be this one, they need to come out with a better sounding name than Blu-Ray because that's just gay. Don't they have some kind of marketing department that gets paid to come up with catchy names? If so, they need to fire them, because Blu-Ray just sucks.

I just hate disks. Sure you can do cool things with a DVD, but just looking at them funny can scratch one and screw up playback. I miss VHS, those tapes took punishment in my house and still played fine.
I can't wait till we have flash drives or everything is just downloaded from some ultra internet of the future....
And blu-ray sounds like a discription for Ray Charles after his cat died. They need to change to BR disk or something, you are correct sir.
I don't like how easy it is to scratch discs, but I hate tapes.
They make "Disc Skins" that can be snapped onto the data side of the discs. It's clear, so any CD/DVD drive can read throught it. If it does get scratched, you can replace it with a new skin.
The only drawback is that it can get expensive: they're approx. $1 a piece
Compared to DVD, I think VHS sucks. The trade-off in durability for picture quality is not even close, in my experience.
As for blu-ray, I would have thought you would like the name. Instead of making up some stupid new word, or some stupid acronym, they basically just call it what it is, a blue laser instead of a red laser. They spell it wrong, but the heart of the technology is a blue ray.
It sucks. And the spelling is one of the worst parts.
