Hey Wingnuts

I realize that now that your hero, George W. Bush has compared the war in Iraq to World War II, you all take that as your cue to parrot the same nonesense. But if any of you actually thought that, why hadn't you mentioned it before? Sort of like how you all thought it was a great idea to liberate the Iraqi people even though I never heard anyone say that until not only after we had already invaded but also after the weapons of mass destruction nonesense started to look bad.

I really hate when anyone compares one war to another, just because it's an entire diffrent set of circumstances.

It is like WWII. Only real difference is that we went after those who attacked us and declared war on us, civilians made sacrifices to help the war effort, many people rushed to enlist regardless of social status, and we had a clear objective and post-war plan.

Well, I guess they aren't very similar at all

People were saying the liberate the Iraqi people way before the WMD
angle. That argument is fairly lame at best.

Republican singles on your blog is a poor advertising match. Perhaps National Geographic for some of your readers who are off the political map.

beakerkin, no one was saying anything about liberating the Iraqi people before the war started, and even then it didn't pick up any steam until the WMD and 09/11 angles fell apart.

I think Clinton talked about it during the 90's. I knew it was his idea to invade Iraq.

To be fair though, Cheney and Rumsfeld have wanted to liberate Iraq's oil since 1991. I think that counts as talking about liberation

in response to Bayn

except when liberals are trying to compare Iraq to Vietnam

in response to me4President

let's see WWII was fought to defeat an ideal, one that the participates fought to the death rather than surrender (Guam, Phillipines, Gludalcanal)putting children in harms way (Hilter youth)
yep you are right no parrells hear

I agree I recommend CIA Worldfactbook or any atlas program then the liberals can mark all the countries where even the media believes terrorists operated......hmm....every country around Iraq

Hey. Why stop with Irac. Lets blow Korea and Iran to hell... And yes, lets take their oil. The price is getting a bit high.........I wouldn't lose any sleep over it......Then we need to think about China..Maybe we could just talk nice, and nobody will blow the Empire State building up...

Hey anonymous, I'm glad you've thought this through.

If the US tried to invade China, we'd be absolutely dominated. If they even mobilize one percent of their population, that's a hundred million man army. Do you know how many people that is? It's a thousand times the number of people our Army is having trouble keeping in Iraq without backdoor drafts and decietful recruiting. The Chinese would never let us land on the shore, let alone storm the beach.

Plus they've got nukes.

As for "blowing Korea and Iran to hell", it's nice in theory, but again, it would result in horrible losses for the US and their interests. Or are you one of those fucking mental midgets who thinks the US operates in a bubble, and we can just do whatever the hell we want?

God, I feel sorry for people like you.

Whoa Anonymous - you must have never left home dude. There's a whole big world out there, with people who think and actually analyze things before making rash decisions - like invading a country on false pretenses and alienating most of the people on the planet. Go Empire go!

beakerkin, no one was saying anything about liberating the "Blacks" people before the "Civil" war started, and even then it didn't pick up any steam until the "North was losing to the South and the possibility of European investment began to materialize".

John Howard said...

That's a pretty lousy analogy.

Always Sourced, Never Disputed said...

No it is an accurate analogy except Lincoln only freed the slaves in the territory he controlled. We are trying to inspire a group of people that have never seen freedom.

John Howard said...

Did Lincoln say the South posed an imminent threat, and only backpedal to freeing the slaves after that was proen to be untrue? Did he attack the South because the US had been attacked by Mexico? There is no paralell between the war in Iraq and the Civil War, and your attmept to draw one just shows that there isn't much legitimate defense left for the war in Iraq.
