Man nabbed at Wal-Mart for handcuff prank

Ok, so this was a stupid joke and not funny at all, but what the hell is the point of arresting this guy?

I think it's a little funny, especially if he'd had an accomplice filming the cashier's reaction. And I agree, there was no point at all in arresting him.

Well, they weren't wasting any taxpayers time, they didn't call the police, I imagine.

And technically, that would be wasting the taxpayers' money, not time. The taxpayers don't have to respond to police calls themselves.

Plus, have you ever been pulled over for a traffic ticket and had three cars behind you all the sudden? It's happened to me multiple times. Police are great at wasting their time on their own - they don't need easily frightened Wal-Mart employees as an excuse.

What would you do if it was your store? He was arrested, and for a good reason. Better than kicking his butt and you getting arrested, or sued......

ASND, I think you missed my point by quite a bit. I didn't say they didn't arrest him, I said they shouldn't have arrested him. If you read my comment, it's plain that I know he was arrested. I was just saying that this sort of thing is a waste of money (to pay the cops for the time it takes) rather than time, as you said, since the body of taxpayers didn't do the arresting.

Yes, I'm sure the cops pay taxes, but you get my point. I hope.
