Reading...
I just finished rereading Life, the Universe and Everything (review). I didn't like it as much as the first two books, but it was still very good. I thought about rereading, the other books in this series, but I don't remember liking them too much the first time around, so I'll probably just move on the the next book in the Saga of the Seven Suns series that I'm in the middle of, Horizon Storms. However, I'm a little disappointed that what I read about that series seems to indicate that the author is kind of dragging it out. I guess I might do that too, if it could make me some money, but it's still frustrating as the reader.

I'm reading The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith, which I expected to be light easy reading, but it is unexpectedly moving. I keep putting it down to dab at my eyes, which must have something in them.
Oh, I also just started reading the latest Harry Potter book.

I read Ladies' Detective Agency a couple months ago. I had the same reaction- very sweet indeed. It's always nice to find a strong female protagonist, as well.
I'm reading Libra by Don DeLillo, which is a semi-fictionalized account of the assassination of JFK. It's awesome, I definitely recommend it. And I am trudging uphill in the snow through Hofstadter's Godel Escher Bach.
Bookman, the library detective was a great character. The same guy also played the drooling doctor in Curb Your Enthusiasm who didn't want Larry to use the phone.

Harry Potter is specifically excluded??? From the hottest blog on the internets? But... But... it IS a great book. 8.2 million people in one night can't be wrong. (Even if I was responsible for buying 5 of them. 2 accidentally). Anyone want to buy an unopened Adult UK edition of Half Blood Prince?? :)
Yes, 8.2 million people on one night can be wrong. As evidence, I point to the fact that one one day last November, many more people than that voted for George Bush.

We bought our British edition HBP at amazon.co.uk. Evidently, we didn't realize we had already ordered one. So we ordered another one. Then we evidently forgot again. so... Voila. 3 British versions of the book. Like I said, anyone want to buy one?
And good point on the Bush voters.
You could give them as gifts (but not to me). What's the difference between the UK and US versions?
