LEGO.com : Redirect Page - LEGOS
Ok, they seriously have to be kidding. They want people to say "LEGO bricks and toys" instead of "Legos?" Well, first of all "LEGO bricks and toys" just sounds pretty fucking stupid and there is no way I'm telling my son, "Hey, go get your LEGO bricks and toys, and we'll build something." But secondly, even if I would say that, they're about thirty years too late in trying to get people to do it.
Next we'll have the Kleenex website lecturing us that we should be saying "Kleenex brand tissues" instead of just "Kleenex" or how about "Bad-Aid brand bandages" instead of just "Band-Aids." Seriously, when you're big enough that your company name is used as a universal substitute for the product that you make, even when talking about a competitors version of the product, then you should just try to be happy about it. Because if I went to legos.com looking to buy some legos, and instead came across this lecture, I'd quickly be going to megabloks.com to buy some Mega Bloks instead.

Given that LEGO is Danish and the plural of LEGO in Danish is LEGO, I favour good old 'LEGO' ... but stuff all that bricks and toys nonsense. I'm not going to rewrite my childhood just to please them.
Me either. Especially not if they want to lecture me about it.
And 'brick' does have another meaning in English English .. but mixing that meaning with 'toys' is far too smutty and perverted for such polite company ;)
Well, it's www.lego.com, the legos.com one is where you get the lecture before being redirected, so I guess they figure they're only lecturing the people who dont get it.
They can say whatever they want, but in the real world, at least in America, they're called legos. A lego is one piece, more than one lego are legos.
I suppose the Johnson & Johnson want us to call their competitor's products adhesive bandages instead of band-aids, right? Well, screw 'em.
Okay wait, back up ... brick can be perverted how?? Yes, we need to know!!
Hey...it's getting them some publicity isn't it? People are talking about it, even if it is derisive.
Trust me, Angie, having a 'brick' as toy is seriously perverted. Just leave it at that; it is for the best.
