Congressman Threatens Islamic Holy Sites

Oh great, this is just what we need. Hey, Tom Tancredo, this isn't a holy war. Even if the terrorists might believe that it is, it's not. There are plenty of people who may not appreciate us "taking out" Mecca who aren't terrorists. And even if that was a legitimate and appropriate response in the hypothetical situation, you have to be a complete idiot not to realize that saying shit like this doesn't help anything, and could potentially make things worse. Idiot.

I really don't know, it's a tough thing. I guess you just have to try and find out exactly who is responsible and punish them. But like I said, even if that would be the appropriate response, speculating about it like that isn't a good idea because you're just going to piss off more people.

Of course this will make things worse.

Could al-Qaeda hope for a better recruiting tool? It's one thing to be able to say that the infidels are on your soil and you better defend yourself.

Now they can frame this as an attack on Islam itself. Sign up and defend Mecca! This quote will be on every online message board in the world, especially the extreme Islamic ones. This kind of sentiment from an elected official of their sworn enemy can only help al-Qaeda's appeal.

What a fucking dumbass.

I would doubt that the attack on us would come from Mecca. From what friends who have gone on the hajj have said, it is one of the few places where people of all races get together and get along as equals. It is a fringe that causes the problems and they will have probably been born in Omaha or Little Rock. I would be all for bombing Arkansas if one of them attacked us

I always thought the word "Tancredo" sounded like something you would scrape off the bottom of your shoe.
